Donegal’s man of the match Caolan McColgan said Donegal knew they were the better side even when they were six points behind.
The Naomh Padraig Uisce Chaoin man made his league debut today and kicked an impressive 0-3 from wing back, and said it was a ‘real honour’ to not only make his first league start, but to be awarded the man of the match award.
But McColgan is more delighted with the win than any personal achievements.
“The victory is the main one,” McColgan said.
“The All-Ireland Champions, it was never going to be easy then coming up here but we’ve a reputation in Ballybofey and we wanted to keep that.”
It was mistakes that led to Kerry’s early lead, going 1-6 to 0-3 ahead after 25 minutes, but McColgan said the Donegal players knew they were the better team.
Paddy Bradley added that Donegal showed a real belief to come back from a wide margin to take the win.
