Paddy Carr was proud of his side as he took his first win as Donegal manager today in dramatic fashion over All-Ireland Champions Kerry.
Donegal were six points down after 25 minutes, thanks to a couple of errors which allowed Kerry in for a goal and a few points.
But they battled well and took control, scoring seven points without reply between the end of the first half and start of the second half.
A 74th minute Patrick McBrearty point, with 20 seconds to play, confirmed the 0-13 to 1-9 win in MacCumhaill Park as Donegal get off to the best start possible in Division 1.
“It’s great to have two points on the board,” Carr said.
“If we’d have come off the field there and lost by a point I’d still be very very proud of what I saw out there on the field, certainly for us as a new management team it’s very encouraging.
“It’s an age old expression, digging deep, but you can only dig deep if the character is there.”
