Termon man Michael Boyle is gearing up for his first season as part of the London backroom staff as they begin competitive action this weekend.
Boyle, who was part of the Gaoth Dobhair backroom team that won Donegal and Ulster SFC title in 2018, was approached by London manager Michael Maher at the end of 2022 in joining The Exiles’ backroom staff.
And preparations are well underway for the start of their Division 4 campaign, taking on Wexford on Saturday, with Boyle saying ‘most of the hard winter training is done’.
London won three games in the league last year, and with four games at home this campaign, they’ll hope to have a solid campaign in preparation for their home game against Sligo in the Connacht SFC quarter-final.
“We’re looking to put our best foot forward,” Boyle said.
“They had the three league wins last year and we’re trying to be as competitive as we can.
“What has really helped counties like London is the condensed season, the players don’t have to commit to that 9-10 month season with all that travelling involved.
“The boys have bought into it and they might not get an opportunity in their home counties to play county football so that’s what we have and we’re looking forward to the season kicking off this weekend.”
