A Waterford-based garda has been applauded for their kind gesture after giving an elderly man a home haircut this week.
Garda O’Byrne was making a regular house call to 94-year-old Mr. Anthony Chester when he volunteered to go above and beyond the call of duty.
A short back and sides was the order of the day, and Mr Chester was full of joy and looking very dapper with his new look!
Gardaí shared the story this week as an example of how members of the Community Policing Unit are involved with helping elderly residents stay safe and well.
One Facebook user said: “That is community policing at its best! Such a lovely kind gesture and so rewarding for all concerned. Great fun was had I am sure!”
Another said: “Keep up the good work men. Much more of that kind of kindness towards our elderly people and so reassuring too. That gentleman must feel a million dollars today…Well done.”
“That’s just fantastic and so thoughtful and kind. Well done guys, I imagine a few jokes were told.”
