Eamonn Kelly took a respectable 18th at the Arctic Lapland Rally this weekend.
The Frosses man was fifth in the SM2 category and commented on the rally being a proper experience and a learning curve for him.
Kelly will step up to the World Rally Championship in 2023, competing in Junior WRC.
The 2022 Billy Coleman Award winner starts his campaign on the snowy stages of Rally Sweden in February.
Kelly said on his first race at the rally: “What an experience Arctic Lapland Rally was. As a first snow rally it was as deep end as you could go! Naturally it was vital that I used every mile and picked up as much confidence before Sweden as possible, which we accomplished, learning so much.
“It was also nice to grab 18th o/a and 5th SM2 in the process against top Finnish competition.
“Massive thanks to Matt Edwards – Professional Rally Driver/Coach who was great company & fantastic help all week, and to RTE-Motorsport who provided a top service. Hugely grateful for the opportunity to do this. Despite being a ‘test’ it was an unforgettable experience.”
