A retro-style football table will be among antique furniture for sale at an east Donegal parochial house contents auction tomorrow.
The century-old St Joseph’s, containing two semi-detached houses adjacent to St Patrick’s Church, Crossroads, Killygordon, was recently renovated.
As a result, more than 30 items of furniture from the houses that are surplus to requirement will be put under the hammer.
One of the more unusual items to go up for auction is a furniture-style Sportcraft foosball (football) table (above).
Maybe it was used by resident priests in the past to de-stress between masses?
Also on sale will be a William 4th Rosewood Mahogany Side Tilt Breakfast Table which was purchased 100 years ago from the former Mount Hall Estate (with documented proof). It has a reserve price of €2,000.
The sprawling estate was formerly the home of the Young family, and a ‘big house’ was in existence there from 1777-83 up until it was demolished in the 1970s.
The auction will take place at the Crossroads Parochial Hall on Saturday 14th January at 2pm.
“Why not come along on Saturday and purchase some of the past,” local PP, Fr Patsy Arkinson, said.
