‘Old Dunnes’ staff start 2023 with a Lotto luck!

If you’ve noticed a buzz around Old Dunnes Stores in Letterkenny this month, that’s because there are 55 Lotto winners in your midst!

The staff of the ‘Old Dunnes’ were the lucky winners of €10,000 in the National Lottery’s New Year’s Eve Millionaire Raffle.

With 55 colleagues taking part in the syndicate, each person got a €180 prize.

From new aftershaves to new beauty treatments, the team have been treating themselves with their winnings.

The team at Dunnes on the Old Town Road have had a syndicate up and running since only last summer, and already they are on their second big win.

Last July they scooped €2,000 from a ticket bought at Kernan’s Spar.

This time, they had 11 Millionaire Raffle tickets bought in stores from Donegal Town to Carrigart. Two Donegal shops recorded €10,000 wins on New Year’s Eve – Whoriskey’s in Ramelton and McElhinneys XL in Manorcunningham, so it’s believed it was either one.

On New Year’s Day, backstore manager Noelle White was checking the numbers at home when the surprise message came up.

“I couldn’t believe it, I started to scream,” Noelle said.

The news spread like wildfire in the group chat on January 1st. Soon afterwards, the winnings were collected from the Post Office and shared out.

“It puts a wee buzz in the shop to be fair,” Noelle said.

For a ticket that cost just €5, the €10,000 boost has provided a nice little pick-me-up for the close-knit team who are hoping to stay on the winning streak.

Congratulations all.
