Kimberley Pearson of Raphoe Badminton Club took silver at the Connacht Open at the weekend in Galway.
Kimberley took silver in the Under-17 Girls Doubles along with her partner Zarah Pender.
Pearson and Pender won 21-5, 21-5 in their first round match against Ava Buckley and Nika Setikaite, then defeated Amira Pender and Hannah Shochan 21-16, 21-12 in the quarter-final.
The pair then lost their first match to Laura Heery and Chloe McGrane 21-17 but took it to a decider with a 22-20 win then qualified for the final by winning 21-14.
They had to settle for silver however as they were beaten by Siofra Flynn and Michelle Shochan 21-7, 21-13.
In the singles, Pearson won her last 32 match against Liya Prakas by 21-12, 21-7 but was defeated in the last 16 to Laura Heery 19-21, 21-19, 12-21.
Rhys McAuley was also in action in the Under-17 competition for the first time, making the step up from Under-15 level.
Rhys was competing in the Boys singles and made his way to the quarter- final with a convincing win in the last 32 against Dan Ryan 21-7, 21-5. He then had a tough battle with Lorcan McGrane in the last 16, winning 21-15, 22-20.
He then however came up against top seed and eventual winner Pranav Erukattil in the last eight, and was defeated 21-15, 21-12.
Kimberley and Rhys were defeated in the last 16 of the mixed doubles by Nicole Joy and Praneel Reddy Vallapureddy 21-17, 21-14.
