A community fundraiser is underway to support a Donegal man who suffered a serious brain injury following a fall.
Don Mooney from Ramelton has been hospitalised since his devastating injury on October 26th last year.
The 48-year-old is currently in Letterkenny University Hospital after a long stay at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. He faces extensive long-term rehabilitation.
To support Don’s recovery, his family launched an online fundraiser which has gathered huge levels of support in the past two days. It is their hope to bring Don home to continue his care.
Don’s sister Sharon, who set up the GoFundMe, said: “We are fundraising for Don to help him on his long road to recovery, bills, rehabilitation and home care.
“We appreciate all the kind words, prayers and cards people have sent to Don.”
Don has battled against the odds throughout his life. Roughly 19 years ago, he underwent major heart surgery to have all his valves replaced. The surgery was repeated 10 years ago.
Despite his health issues, Don has always been active in various groups such as the local gun club and fishing. He enjoys local horse racing which he goes to with his brother Peter and father Joe. He also enjoys local car rallies with his brother Jason.
The Mooney Family are grateful for any donations and provide thanks in advance. To visit the GoFundMe page, click here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/sk75zh-dons-road-to-recovery/
