Gardai stopped a driving on suspicion of not wearing a seatbelt and discovered he had no insurance and was also over the alcohol limit.
Members of the Buncrana Roads Policing Unit were on patrol in the Carndonagh area yesterday when the incident occurred.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed “The driver was stopped and spoken to. It transpired that the driver was not only travelling without a seatbelt but also without insurance.
“A fail on the roadside breath test followed which meant that the driver was then arrested and charged to appear in Court.”
The vehicle was also seized.
Gardai later appealed to drivers to make road safety a priority this New Year and help save lives.
