The east Donegal community was plunged into shock again at the weekend following the sudden death of local farmer, James Patton.
He died, following a short illness, at his home at Carn, Ballybofey, on New Year’s Eve.
He was in his early sixties.
Mr Patton was a common sight on the local roads, day or night, in his tractor or car on his way to tending to his many sheep and cattle.
A quiet and modest man, he was always known to be a ‘great neighbour’, particularly to the elderly and to those living alone.
Indeed, he was never shy when it came to lending a hand to any farmer in the area who asked for his help and expertise.
Beloved husband of the late Florence, he was a much loved father of Laura and cherished brother of Annie.
Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his heartbroken daughter, sister, extended family, neighbours and very many friends.
Remains reposing at the family home on Tuesday January 3rd from 7pm.
Funeral leaving from there on Thursday Jan 5th at 1.30 pm for Service of Thanksgiving in St Anne’s Parish Church, Monellan, Crossroads, Killygordon (F93 HY40) at 2pm.
Interment afterwards in the adjoining churchyard.
Family time from 10pm until 12 noon and on the day of the Funeral.
Those who wish to leave a message of sympathy for the family, they may do so in the condolences section on www.rip.ie
