Gardai are now following a definite line of inquiry after thugs rammed the gate of a local sports ground and ripped up a football pitch.
The vandals drove a car around the field at Glengad FC at the Crua just before Christmas and caused considerable damage.
The Inishowen club also posted pictures on their Facebook of the damage caused.
Horrified club officials put out a plea to the public asking for any information on the attack to be forwarded to Gardai in Carndonagh.
And last night the club posted an update saying information has been passed to Gardai and a “definite line of inquiry” is being followed.
The club spokesperson said “We at Glengad Fc want to thank everyone who came forward with information in connection with the damage to the Football Pitch at the Crua.
Massive thanks to the committee and to the local community and to all the people that offered help in any way.
The Guards are now following a definite line of inquiry. Thanks from all at Glengad FC.”
A few days earlier the club said it was disappointed at the vandalism.
An earlier statement read “Some thugs thought funny to ram the gate and then proceed to severely damage the playing pitch.
“These things don’t normally happen in our community.
“The committee have work tirelessly to build the best facilities for our players and the whole community and it is unfortunate that these thugs don’t appreciate this.”
