The Twin Towns community has been plunged into shock following the sudden death of gifted musician and writer, David Reilly.
Late of Glenfin Road, Ballybofey, he passed away in Dublin just before Christmas following a short illness.
He was 49 years-of-age.
A quiet, unassuming character, David was a classically trained multi-instrumentalist.
After graduating from the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), he went on to teach in Dublin and also wrote original music for film and TV.
He was lead guitarist with Donegal ‘doom’ rock band, Graveyard Dirt.

Following the release of the band’s “For Grace Or Damnation” , he decided to concentrate on releasing music by himself.
Since then, he has been writing and releasing music in the ‘prog rock’ genre.
In recent years, he released two highly acclaimed albums under the Effa Lente pseudonym after collaborating with American singer, the late Marlo Ronee (listen below).
He had written another album under the same name which was due to be released in 2023.
Among the tributes paid online over the weekend, he has been described, among other things, as one of the most gifted musicians to come out of Donegal in recent years.
Above all, David will be remembered as the quiet, polite, friendly and witty person that he was.
He will be sorely missed around the Twin Towns, Donegal and beyond.
He is survived by his parents, Walter and Helen, sister Goergie, brother Ivor, partner Simone and many friends.
