Too much emphasis is being put on housing Ukrainian ‘visitors’ while local people are ‘lying in doorways or under bridges.’
That was the claim made today by Independent Councillor, Michael McClafferty.
He was commenting after the announcement that, from January, an increase of €5,000 will apply to all social housing income thresholds.
“While I welcome this announcement, clearly, more needs to be done for Donegal to even the current divide,” he said.
“We are top heavy with visitors while our own are left lying in doorways or under bridges with the rats jumping over them. It’s not good enough at all. Treat everyone alike, stop making differences.”
