The annual Santa Hat campaign is launching at McDonald’s Letterkenny this week in support of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC Ireland).
The restaurant is selling fun Santa Hats between 24th November and 14th December to support families with ill or injured children nationwide.
The RMHC Ireland Santa Hats are €2 each and all money donated will go directly to the charity.
So when you’re picking up your next Big Mac, why not pick up a Santa hat to get into the spirit too! You’ll be supporting RMHC Ireland and their work providing accommodation and a caring and supportive environment for families whose children are seriously ill and are hospitalised or undergoing medical treatment at Children’s Health Ireland, Crumlin.
All proceeds will go towards building the new 53 bedroom Ronald McDonald House alongside the new Children’s Hospital when it opens in 2024.
Last year, The RMHC Ireland Santa hat campaign successfully raised over €167,000 for the charity. The campaign saw over 84,000 hats sold during the Christmas season with McDonald’s in Donegal selling over 614 hats during this period for the charity.
The services provided by RMHC Ireland are invaluable, providing support to families 365 days a year, with home-cooked meals, private bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens and laundry facilities close to Ireland’s dedicated children’s hospitals.
Joe Kenny, Executive Officer of Ronald McDonald House Charities in Ireland said; “The Santa Hat campaign is one of RMHC Ireland’s flagship fundraising initiatives. The campaign supports RMHC Ireland in raising the vital funds needed to enable us to continue to provide a ‘home-away-from-home’ for families during an incredibly stressful time in their lives. Without the support of local communities as well as corporate partners like McDonald’s, we could not achieve our mission of providing families with a place to stay while their child undergoes medical treatment, and supporting them in giving them those nights and time together with gives them strength.”
Ronald McDonald House Charities Ireland has supported over 4,500 families since first opening its doors 18 years ago. The average length of stay for a family in Ronald McDonald House last year was 26 nights.
