Generous Donegal man Billy Bustard has made another massive donation to the Good and New Donegal Galway Cancer Bus charity.
Billy successfully raised €36,000 this year from a fundraising dance in the Abbey Hotel and raffling a brand new Quad. The prize was won by Sean Higgins, Ballymote, Sligo who was joined by his dog Harley for the handover yesterday.
Billy Bustard from Donegal Town has been raising funds for cancer services for more than 20 years. Having lost his brother Norman to cancer, and surviving cancer himself, Billy is passionate about raising money to help others on the same journey. His charity dances and raffles have been very well supported by the local community.
Billy has been praised once again this year for his amazing work keeping the cancer bus on the road.
Mr Eamonn McDevitt, founder of the Cancer Bus charity, said: “A million thanks once again Billy for everything you do for us at the Good and New Cancer bus charity we deeply appreciate what you do to help us keep the bus running.
“A big thanks also to everybody who sold tickets to help some people sold over €4000 worth.
“We still receive absolutely no funding whatsoever from HSE, government,Irish Cancer Society, or Relay for Life. All our funding comes from people like Billy and other people who help us keep going.
“To date we have carried approx 2500 patients and donated almost half a million euros to cancer families. Please help us to keep going.”
