The Gallaghers from Donegal have made it to the final of Ireland’s Fittest Family after a gruelling and tense battle on the eliminator.
In a tough three way fight on ‘The Swamp’ ,which saw the Gallaghers from Letterkenny, coached by Anna Geary, take on the Nugents from Louth and the McNallys from Monaghan in the first semi-final.
The Gallagher’s went first with Mum Lisa, and siblings Connor, Molly, and James taking on the tough swamp.
The Donegal side started slow in the mucky conditions, but once they worked together flew through and finished in 6 minutes and 25 seconds.
The Nugent’s went straight through to the final as they finished the fastest in 5.32, while Anna’s other team, the McNally’s finished in 6.08.
Anna’s two team’s then went face-to-face in The Eliminator with the McNally’s taking a slight lead after the lake.
They increased their lead over the bales and through the pipes, making it through the cargo net before the Gallagher’s started it.
The pace of the Gallagher’s at the ice bath cut the lead massively, with Conor and James making it to the top of the ramp climb before any of the McNally’s, helping Molly and Lisa up to win at the last in a dramatic fashion.
The Gallagher’s will contest the final next week with four families remaining in a bid for the coveted title and €15,000.
The final of Ireland’s Fittest Family kicks off this Sunday at 6.30pm on RTÉ One.
