The Olde Glen Bar has become a foodie’s paradise of late, and this week they have received more recognition in National Geographic Magazine.
The influential magazine has listed the 10 best restaurants in Ireland and in Northern Ireland, with The Olde Glen featured at number four.
Travel writer Pól Ó Conghaile selected Chapter One by Mickael Viljanen in Dublin for first place, but had plenty of praise for the special things happening in Glen. Most of all, the transformative impact of Chef Ciarán Sweeney was applauded throughout.
Ciarán Sweeney, former head chef at Forest & Marcy on Leeson Street, is taking Irish dishes and reintroducing them to diners in a fresh way.
“They gobbled it up in Dublin, as they do here,” the feature said.
Guests are advised not to miss Chef Sweeney’s fermented potato bread with bacon and cabbage and to appreciate the “elevated” ingredients such as locally-sourced seafood.
