The Letterkenny Community Heritage Group and friends were energised by a fantastic conference on Saturday last.
The event took place in the Station House Hotel, with historians, authors and heritage enthusiasts from all walks of life taking part.
The conference was formally opened by Mayor of Letterkenny-Milford Cllr Donal Mandy Kelly. Guest speakers included Kieran Kelly, Sean Beattie, Aine Ni Dhuibhne, Liam O Cuinneagain, and Dr Joseph Gallagher from Donegal County Council as well as the Donegal GAP History and Heritage Group.
Professor Breandan MacSuibhne, a historian of society and culture in modern Ireland, delivered a talk on Brian Friel and his mother’s people for the Colm Ferry Memorial Lecture.
