After their successful Half Marathon last year, the team at Hegarty’s Home Interiors Buncrana are back at it again – but this time they’re pushing harder and attempting to run further and raise more money.
The entire Hegartys team will take to the pavements on 30th October to run, walk or cycle as far as they can to raise vital funds in the FeelGood With Pieta 2021: Distance Based Challenge. One of the team members will run the full marathon, one will run a half marathon and the other members of the team will join them, along the way and run what they can.
The marathon run will finish at Hegartys on Buncrana Main Street.
“We chose to raise money for Pieta House as we know every family is affected by mental health in some way or other and the service that Pieta provides is invaluable and vital to save lives. Pieta provides a professional one-to-one therapeutic service to people who are in suicidal distress, those who engage in self-harm, and those bereaved by suicide. All of their services are provided free of charge and no referral is needed,” a spokesperson said.
Team member Ciaran Deeney is the driving force behind this, now annual, fundraiser and keeps the team pumped and motivated week in, week out.
“Without his determination and drive we’d all be a lot lazier! He has a great enthusiastic attitude and doesn’t take no for an answer when it comes to the team training!”
“We’d ask the public if they can donate anything at all to our fundraiser, we’d really appreciate it. We’d also ask anyone that is about on Sunday 30th October to come down to Hegartys to welcome our team back after their rigorous run.”
Last year’s half marathon was a great success. The staff of Hegartys raised €6,354 for Pieta thanks to generous donations from customers, family and friends. This year they’re determined to raise even more.
