The Twin Towns Walking Festival returns for a one-day event at the end of the month.
There will be two walks to choose from in and around Barnesmore Gap on October 29.
The day is being organised by Ballybofey Stranorlar Integrated Community Company (BASICC) and the Ballybofey-Stranorlar to Donegal Town Recreation Corridor Group (BSTD).
BASICC is a social enterprise, established to encourage the regeneration of the Twin Towns of Ballybofey and Stranorlar.
BSDT works to develop a sustainable recreation corridor between Ballybofey-Stranorlar and Donegal town as a key tourism destination in the north west.
“After a very long break in getting out and about, we’re delighted to partner with BASICC and the BSDT Recreation Corridor Group to bring you a one-day festival based in the Bluestack Mountains,” a committee spokesperson said.
There will be two walks to choose from, based out of Leghowney Community Hall.
Walk 1 – Leghowney Loop Walk – Moderate
This walk is suitable for anyone with a moderate level of fitness. Approximately 7km it is on paved roads and gravel tracks for the duration and offers stunning views over Donegal Bay. Leaving Leghowney at 11.30am. Full details in our link below.
Walk 2 – Leghowney Heights Walk – Difficult
For the experienced walker, the Leghowney Heights walk takes off into open country, across the wild expanse of heather, bog and forestry characteristic of this side of the Bluestacks.
Approx 10km, this walk is expected to take three to four hours due to the nature of the terrain. With fabulous views over the Atlantic this walk around Clogher Hill is not to be missed. Leaving Leghowney at 10am.

Tickets for both walks include a soup and sandwich lunch afterwards.
Book early, as places are limited and are sure to be in demand.
