A special orchestral suite arising out of Inishowen will be explored today on RTE’s Nationwide series.
This Wednesday’s show (airing at 7pm) will follow local journalist Mary Harte on a journey to the Inishowen Peninsula to meet members of the Inishowen Traditional Music Project.
Over the past 20 years, this group of dedicated musicians have been archiving the unique traditional tunes and songs of the area. In the process they’ve discovered manuscripts of tunes going back centuries. The music has now been rearranged into an orchestral suite.
