Ed McGroarty broke his own National Record at the 24hr European Championships yesterday in Italy.
Captain of the Irish team, McGroarty finished in 17th place, chalking up 258.82km in Verona, breaking his own National Record.
The Raphoe man smashed the Irish record at the end of last year when he clocked up a massive total of 256.57km in the Belfast 24-Hour International in Victoria Park, the first Irish athlete to break the 250km barrier.
Finn Valley AC’s Eddie Gallen was 73rd, running a total of 222.184km, with Keith Russell 35th in 246.711km as the men’s team finished in 9th place overall.
Aleksandr Sorokin from Lithuania won the individual race, completing 319.614km, while Poland won the team event from Lithuania.
