A special art exhibition will take place at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Donegal tomorrow to showcase works by popular local artist, Joe Carlin.
Joseph (Joe) was an extremely talented artist from the Crossroads, Killygordon.
He sadly died from cancer on September 18, 2021, at the age of 54.
Joe worked at ATU Donegal (formerly LYIT) for many years and was known on-campus for his kind, friendly and positive nature.
A self-taught artist, of many different styles and media, Joe created scores of pieces, and some of these will be showcased at the on-campus event in Letterkenny from 11am to 4pm tomorrow (Saturday).
More than 40 of Joe’s art displays have been kindly loaned back to the Carlin family for the day and will be showcased at this event.
All donations will go to the Oncology Day Unit, a service that supported Joe during his cancer treatment.
The art exhibition has been co-ordinated by Joe’s family and his colleagues at ATU Donegal.
Many of the displays on show are unseen pieces created by Joe and this event will showcase his unique and distinctive style which has brought joy to many.
The event is open to the public and Joe’s art exhibition will be on display in the main campus corridor from 11am to 4pm. If you are interested in marking the life of this special person, be sure to attend this event.
Joe’s 1st anniversary Mass will be held at 6pm tomorrow at St Patrick’s Church, Crossroads, Killygordon, and will be streamed live via the church Facebook page.
