The ETB Golf Society will resume for the 2022-23 season this coming Saturday on the fine links of Dunfanaghy Golf Club.
Captain of the Society for the incoming season is Mr Cathal McGee from Ballybofey. Cathal is very well known for his role as a Senior Welding Instructor in the ETB’s Letterkenny Training Centre and also as a WorldSkills Welding Expert. He has certainly created a strong bond with members since joining the society a number of years back and everyone wishes the B&S Golf Club man the very best of luck for his year ahead.
Last year’s Golfer of the Year was Finn Valley College PE teacher, Paddy McDaid, who collected his fifth Golfer of the Year prize back in June, hotly pursued by Deirdre O’ Toole from the Donegal Sports Partnership and John Bosco Gallagher from Coláiste Ailigh. The MaryAnn Kane Magnificent 7 trophy was won by Moville CC teacher Ryan Monagle, who has made an impressive start since joining the society. Other ‘Major’ winners last year were SallyAnn Mc Fadden, also from Moville CC, who won the inaugural Memorial Competition, Tommy Greally who collected the President’s Prize and the Finn Valley College duo of Paddy McDaid and Rory White who won the team event prize, The Seán O’ Longáin Cup.
So, the stage is set for what promises to be another exciting year in the popular ETB Golf Society. Captain Cathal has put together an impressive roster of outings on some of Donegal’s finest golf courses for the season ahead. Best of luck to all golfers!
