Abbott Ireland has applied to Donegal County Council for a huge extension to its existing plant in Donegal Town.
Planning for the huge 835sq metre single store extension was lodged with the council on Thursday.
The extension will house a warehouse, a waste store and other works.
The application also includes parking for another 90 spaces and landscaping on an existing 10.5 hectare site at Lurganboy, Donegal Town.
A decision on the application is due on October 26th next.
The plant houses the Abbott Ireland Diabetes Care centre.
In Ireland, Abbott employs over 5,000 people across nine sites including Donegal.
Last month the US medical company announced plans to create 1,000 jobs in Donegal and Kilkenny as part of a €440m investment.
The Abbott Diabetes Care facility in Donegal Town is the sole manufacturer and distributor of the company’s FreeStyle brand of blood glucose test strips.
