A local councillor says plans are at an advanced stage on rectifying traffic and road safety issues at the notorious junction on the main Letterkenny to Ballybofey road.
Cllr Patrick McGlowan has been informed that an updated road design has been submitted by Donegal County Council and approved by the TII for Kilross junction.
It aims, amongst other things, to curb the problem of cars avoiding long queues going into Ballybofey by turning the opposite direction towards Convoy, then performing U-turns in the middle of the road.
The Cathaoirleach of the Lifford-Stranorlar Municipal District, Cllr McGowan, has raised the issue several times over the last number of years.
He believes work will start on the problem junction before the end of this year.
