Thousands attended inspirational Geraldine Mullan’s ‘Field of Hope’ over the weekend.
The two-and-a-half acre field of sunflowers was planted and nurtured by the grieving mum.
She was the sole survivor of a car accident at Lough Foyle which killed her husband John, 49, and children Tomás, 14, and Amelia, six.
On Saturday, the second anniversary of the tragedy, Geraldine opened the flower-filled field to the public to spread hope, smiles and solidarity with anyone who has experienced loss.
And, she did just that.
Long queues formed early on Saturday, and again on Sunday, as thousands of people from all over Ireland flocked to see and experience the wonder.

“The Field of Hope in Quigleys Point is poignantly emotive in so many ways,” Cllr Murray said.
“Such a beautifully uplifting response to one of the darkest tragedies ever visited upon Inishowen.
“Such a happy, upbeat and positive place – serving as a reminder to cherish everything you hold dear in life.”
He was even impressed at having to join the long queue!
“Thousands of people from near and far, happily waiting their turn to enjoy the journey, reflect and be happy. And all helped along by a huge team of local volunteers,” he added.
“Fair play to Geraldine Mullan and everyone involved. It’s as powerful as it is beautiful.”
The field is located between the R238 and Lough Foyle.
To the left is a joyous yellow sea of sunflowers.
To the right is the water which claimed the lives of Geraldine’s husband and children.
“My heart is still broken and next week is going to be very tough,” Geraldine told Donegal Daily last week.
“Being in the field and working and seeing the fruits of the labour has been therapy for me.”
