Breaking – Ill fisherman airlifted to Letterkenny Hospital

An ill fisherman was winched from a trawler and airlifted to Letterkenny Hospital this afternoon.

Lough Swilly RNLI were paged today at 13.07 by Malin Head Coast Guard to a sick fisherman, 20 nautical miles off Malin Head.

The crew immediately attended the scene and the fisherman was successfully winched to the Rescue Helicopter 118.

The Lough Swilly volunteer crew were stood down and returned to Buncana to refuel and make ready for service.
