Emma Doherty was announced as the Women’s National League Player of the Month for June/July.
The Buncrana native scored four goals in six games over the two month period for Sligo Rovers, including two goals in a 3-2 win over league leaders Shelbourne at the end of July.
The Bit O’Red forward scored her first goal of June in a 1-0 win over second place Wexford Youths, while she also bagged a goal as they lost the Western Derby to Galway United.
Emma said: “I was delighted to be nominated never mind win it because the League’s full of Internationals and some big experienced players so it was a massive achievement for me.
“It’s great to see Sligo Rovers win the men and women Player of the Month awards this evening, there’s a great buzz around the club and Aidan (Keena) has been scoring loads of goals and it’s been massive for the club.”

It’s nine goals in 18 for the 18-year-old in her debut season in the Women’s National League, having signed from the Donegal Women’s League.
Just last week, Doherty was called up to join the Republic of Ireland senior squad for a training camp in Abbotstown.
