Gavin Dykes is hoping that Finn Park can become a fortress again as they came out on top in the North West Derby against Sligo Rovers.
Clubs always dreaded the trip to Donegal but this season the Harps didn’t live up to their name with just six points picked up in the first 12 home games this season.
But with two homes wins in a row, Dykes is hoping that Finn Park will be difficult for opposing teams to come to again.
Gavin Dykes said: “We’re trying to make sure that Finn Harps is a difficult place to come. It wasn’t and it hasn’t been, too many teams have come up here and taken points out of it too easy.
“I think tonight and against Drogheda we’ve seen that we have a wee bit of heart, there’s tonnes of desire, I thought everybody to a man was outstanding tonight.”
A thunderous strike from Barry McNamee from 25 yards went in off the post and Harps doubled their lead on the 36th minute when Ryan Rainey headed home from a Gary Boylan corner to make it 2-0 at half-time.
The lead was halved instantly into the second half when Aidan Keena countered from a Harps throw-in.
A Ryan Connolly penalty restored Harps’ two goal lead on the 68th minute, but two minutes later he was given a second yellow card.
Keena made it 3-2 from the spot with 10 minutes remaining but the 10 men defiantly held on.
