Ballintra hopes to welcome Ukrainian families into the local community on Thursday the 25th of August, the day after Ukraine’s Independence Day, with a barbecue and music.
There are 62 Ukrainian refugees who arrived in Ballintra at the end of July, 59 of them women and children.
The purpose of the event is to introduce the Ukrainian families into the area, make them feel welcome and help them to integrate with the local community.
The event will take place in the Bay Bush Bar at 6pm, where the owner Stephen Anderson will kindly put on a barbecue on and has sourced 2 local musicians.
Funds have been raised a justgiving page to support this event and potentially others that organisers can put on, should funds permit.
