Mona McSharry finished in 7th place in the 200m breaststroke final at the European Aquatics Championships in Rome.
The Marlins Swimming Club Ballyshannon member finished in a 2:26.96 in a strong final won by Swiss athlete Lisa Mamie in 2:23.27. Italy’s Martina Carrero was second with Lithuania’s Kotryna Teterevkova picking up the bronze.
It was a busy week for the Grange native who was 5th in her preferred 100m breaststroke in on Saturday, and with the 50m breaststroke to come.
McSharry, who turns 22 next week, may have been disappointed not to medal in the 100m event but it was still a great achievement to get to the finals of two European Championship events.
