Donegal is getting an A+ as a top holiday destination for the A-listers this summer.
While Hollywood couple Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick enjoyed downtime in their holiday home, ‘Belfast’ star Ciaran Hinds was back for a visit to the scenic southwest.
Many more famous faces will be jetting into the county this weekend for Paul McGinley’s Irish Legends tour at Rosapenna in Downings. Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden – from Boyzone and Westlife boyband fame – have been revealed in the Celebrity Series line-up alongside local legend himself, Daniel O’Donnell. Great Britain athletics legend Kriss Akabusi, ex British & Irish Lions number eight Scott Quinnell and England cricketer Graeme Swann are also set to compete alongside Love Island contestant-turned-horseracing presenter Chris Hughes and actor Alistair Petrie. Country music star Nathan Carter has been confirmed as the headline act for the festival.
SJP and Matthew’s return to Kilcar this August was well-timed to coincide with the ‘Broderick Cup’ at Kilcar GAA club last weekend.
The couple and their three teenage children happily accepted an invite to present medals at the underage competition at Towney Park. Dressed in casual wear and sunnies, the SJP and Matthew smiled through the presentations while their eldest, James, proudly wore the blue and yellow jersey.
The Broderick Cup was named after Matthew’s parents, James and Patricia Broderick, who holidayed in south Donegal often and were big supporters of the local club.
Another returning visitor this week was Northern Irish actor Ciaran Hinds, who was spotted in the Rusty Mackerel on Sunday. Ciaran has fallen for Donegal since filming ‘In The Land of Saints & Sinners’ here in the springtime. Following a Sunday lunch with family, Ciaran posed for pictures with The Rusty Mackerel staff:
