Mona McSharry was second in her heat as she qualified for the semi-final of the 200m breaststroke at the European Aquatics Championships in Rome.
McSharry, who is a graduate of the Marlins Swimming Club, Ballyshannon, was disappointed as she finished 5th in the 100m breaststroke final yesterday, but will be hoping to improve on her result in the 200m as she was seventh fastest overall in the heats this morning.
The Grange, Co. Sligo native finished second in her heat with a time of 2:26.94, behind Lithuanian athlete Kotryna Teterevkova, who was just ahead of McSharry yesterday when finishing fourth in the 100m final.
McSharry goes again in the second semi-final later this evening , with the first race scheduled for 5.37pm Irish time.
