Moville Community College Principal Anthony Doogan is receiving top marks for his new poetry book, 50 Dán.
The self-published book is a collection of powerful pieces mostly written during the pandemic.
Anthony, who hails from Ballyliffin, tapped into his own experiences and a myriad of sources for his writing.
The poems range from a near-drowning experience as a young child, working on a family farm, the civil rights issues of his youth in Ireland and the United States, as a volunteer teacher in Malawi, mental health issues, current affairs, tragedies in family lives, a love of Irish language and culture and, of course, the current Covid pandemic.
The book has been described as “deep and reflective, yet cutting an unapologetic”, and is a highly recommended gift.
