Eilish Flanagan finishes in sixth place at Commonwealth Games

Eilish Flanagn finished sixth place in the 3000m steeplechase at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham tonight.

The Finn Valley AC athlete finished in a season’s best time of 9:57.18 at the Alexander Stadium.

Kenyan athlete Jackline Chepkoech won the race with a time of 9:15.68, just ahead of England’s Elizabeth Bird in 9:17.79.

Uganda’s Peruth Chemutai won bronze in 9:23.24 while another English athlete Aimee Pratt was next in 9:27.41

Just ahead of Flanagan, from Aghyaran who was representing Northern Ireland, was Australian Amy Cashin.

Eilish’s twin sister Roisin will run in the 5000m on Sunday.
