Conor Orr returned to National Hunt racing action at the weekend with a winner in Galway in The Eileen Kelly Memorial Steeplechase.
Orr was booked for three rides on Sunday and had one second place finish as well as one win on 9/4 second favourite Politesse.
The Rathmullan man placed Politesse in second from the off but after leader Agusta Gold fell at the first, Orr had to move out of the way to avoid fallen jockey Paul Townend.
Facing a tough battle with 11/10 favourite Battleoverdoyen over the two mile six furlongs, Orr got to work before the final bend and overtook the favourite with half a furlong to go to win by a length and a quarter.
It’s a second win in a row for the duo and a fourth in total when paired up together for trainer Lorna Fowler.
Orr has had a quiet spell in recent weeks due to the lack of jumps racing on in the summer months.
The National Hunt season is predominantly a winter season as the ground is softer, and therefore injuries are less frequent.
Orr returns will be in action again tomorrow with two rides in Sligo, while his brother Oisin has four rides in Newcastle today on the flat.
