Community sets up fundraiser to get 4×4 wheelchair for Donegal beach

The community of Narin and Portnoo have set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the purchase of a 4×4 Off Road Powered Wheelchair that can be used by anyone visiting to access the beach.

The purchase would be the first for any beach in Ireland and would greatly support the community’s effort to develop the area as a fully accessible holiday destination.

Use of the chair would be free of charge to anyone who requires accessibility to the beach due to limited mobility.

“We firmly believe that this is a fundamental human right to be able to have full independent accessibility to as many public areas as possible, and supporting this goal will realise the dream for many,” campaign organisers said.

They plan to hold a series of fundraising events in order to help them reach their target and appreciate any help from the wider public to help them.
