There is some good news for consumers across Donegal as the price of home-heating oil has dropped in a number of outlets.
On July 2nd we reported how the price of home heating oil across Donegal has hit a record high with some suppliers charging up to €1,470 for 1,000 litres of oil.
However, a price comparison of some fuel suppliers in the county today shows a solid reduction in home heating oil prices.
Last month Whoriskey Oil were quoting €1,470 for 1,000 litres but today are quoting €1,290 – a reduction of €180 on a large fill.
A&N Fuels had been quoting €1,459 but are one of the cheapest in the county today charging €1,279.
They are matched by Swilly Fuels who are also quoting €1,279 for 1,000 litres, down from €1,389 on July 2nd.
However, the prices are still almost double what they were last year when the average cost of 1,000 litres was €700.
Petrol and diesel prices are also slowing coming down below the €2 a litre pricemark but still have a long way to come down for hard-hit consumers.
