Some members of the volunteer Donegal Mountain Rescue Team (DMRT) are on duty in Mayo today for ‘Reek Sunday.’
They are pictured on summit earlier with colleagues from the Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue Team.
Up to 25,000 pilgrims typically climb the famous Croagh Patrick on the last Sunday of July every year.
However, the pandemic led to the event being cancelled in 2020, with lower numbers than usual turning out for the climb last year.
DMRT provides an emergency response, remote environment and extreme terrain search and rescue service for County Donegal.
The team is comprised completely of volunteers who are on 24 hour call, 365 days of the year.
They are tasked by An Garda Síochána, so if there is an emergency please call 112 or 999 directly.
This is to ensure an appropriate coordinated response.
