Finn Harps take on Bohemians tonight at Finn Park as both side look to progress in their first game of the 2022 FAI Cup.
Ollie Horgan’s side will be hoping for a bit more luck in the Cup competition, having struggled in recent months in the league.
But they have already had a bit of bad luck, in being part of the only all-Premier Division tie in the First Round.
And Keith Long”s side, who are 6th in the Premier Division table, will be looking to go one better in the cup this year.
Bohemians were defeated 4-3 on penalties by St. Patrick’s Athletic in the FAI Cup final last year at the Aviva Stadium.
Ollie Horgan told FinnHarps.ie: “If we’re being honest we’d probably have preferred an easier draw to Bohs but so be it.
“They’ve lost a couple of players this window but have brought in a lot of bodies from across the water who will be eager to impress and hit the ground running.
“Bohs were the width of a crossbar away from winning the Cup last season so they’ll be dying to get back there and make amends this time around.”
Just five of the starting 11 for Bohemians are still at the club from that game eight months ago.
Harps got to the last eight of the competition last year, defeating Fairview Rangers and Derry City, before losing 3-1 to Dundalk in the quarter-final replay, following a dramatic 3-3 draw at Finn Park.
And Horgan is hoping a win in the cup can lift his side and hopes the fans can continue supporting the side and help them get results.
He added: “We have to be better. The last few weeks haven’t been good enough at all but we won’t stop fighting to improve and put results together. Our supporters have been tremendous this season and we’ll need them again tomorrow night, and for the rest of the season to give us that extra lift.”
Meanwhile, Cockhill Celtic travel to UCD to take on The Students at the UCD Bowl, while Bonagee United welcome Pike Rovers to The Dry Arch Park on Sunday at 2pm.
