Cows returned to Tory Island this morning for the first time in nearly 30 years.
The five-strong herd of Galloway cattle were transported by ferry in conjunction with Corncrake/Traonach LIFE.
A special blessing of the cattle took place at the pier on their arrival.
The cattle will occupy land in management by Corncrake Life, and measures will be put in place to ensure they do not roam freely.
A spokespseron for the organisaion said that farm management is key to conservation of the endangered Corncrake birds, which thrive on the island.
The initiative is open to all islanders who want to participate in the project.
A TV crew was there to film the historic moment.
