A locally based cross-border project has been approved for funding under the ‘Co-operation with Northern Ireland Scheme.’
Éabhlóid received funding of €10,500 for their ‘Bláth na dTulach’ podcast, a collaboration between themselves and Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich in Belfast.
Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts and Gaeltacht, Catherine Martin, approved allocations totalling €172,983, to support cultural projects with significant cross-border elements.
Small self-contained projects funded under the scheme seek to enhance, celebrate or commemorate the artistic, cultural, musical, film or heritage of Ireland on a North/South basis.
Applications were invited for projects that helped to promote co-operation and joint initiatives between organisations and institutions, cultural tourism and the provision of cultural outreach programmes, on a North/South basis.
Projects range from exhibitions, festivals and dance performances and will involve bodies on both sides of the border co-operating in a cultural context and include ‘Tradition. Past Tense. Future Tense.
Present Tense’, by Echo Echo Dance Company in Derry and a film produced in collaboration with the Irish Heritage Trust and Queen’s University Belfast mapping famine roads.
Speaking today, Minister Martin said: “After a long and challenging period of cautious restraint, we can commit again to the events and pursuits that have defined the calendar for many of us over the years.
“Best wishes to all those participating in these events and I look forward to seeing the collaboration of organisations on both sides of the border enjoy the wide range of events over the coming months.”
