Donegal County Council has been urged to consider extra measures to slow down traffic in the Ard O’Donnell area of Letterkenny.
The terraced housing area is often used by traffic travelling to local schools, St. Eunan’s Cathedral and the town centre.
Letterkenny Councillor Jimmy Kavanagh has called for ramps or other suitable measures to be brought in to reduce the dangers associated with speeding.
The matter was raised at this week’s Letterkenny-Milford MD meeting, where Cllr Gerry McMonagle said the ramps currently in place are “very shallow and not deterring speed”.
A traffic count is set to be carried out at Ard O’Donnell to establish if any measures are required.
Cllr Kavanagh also receieved an update on a motion he raised with the council last September seeking a stone name sign for Ard O’Donnell. The MD said that the Letterkenny Roads Section is awaiting contact from the residents association to agree the type and location of the proposed sign.
