Letterkenny Councillor Kevin Bradley has made the call for interactive speed signs to deter speeding near local graveyards.
The Independent councillor told this month’s Letterkenny-Milford MD meeting that some vehicles are passing the town’s main graveyards such as Leck at “unbelievable” speeds.
He suggested that an effective step would be to install radar signs which instantly warn motorists if they are breaking the speed limit.
The response from the Letterkenny roads department was that there is currently no funding available for these works.
“No money is probably the story of our lives here,” said Cllr Bradley.
However, an assessment is due to be carried out by the Roads Service to see if the radar signs would be appropriate.
