Bonagee United toasted a successful season for the men’s senior teams on Saturday night at the Clanree Hotel.
A superb season in the Ulster Senior League and Donegal League was celebrated. Indeed, the season just gone enters the history books as Bonagee United’s most successful ever.
The USL team, managed by Jason Gibson, won the North West of Ulster Intermediate Cup, the Donegal News USL League Cup and Knockalla Caravans Senior Cup.
Damien McClafferty’s Donegal League team won the Brian McCormick Cup and only missed out on the Premier Division title after a narrow play-off loss to Kilmacrennan Celtic.
“A haul of trophies like this has never happened at the club before in our 52 year existence and it will take some beating to even match it any time soon,” Bonagee United Chairman Niall Callaghan said.
“As a club, we take huge delight at seeing trophies coming through our gates. “We have a hard working and well structured committee that strive to provide the best facilities and environment for yourselves. We will continue to do that and hopefully there will be many more nights in the Dry Arch where we can celebrate winning silverware together.”
Sean Gilroy from Global Tiles kindly sponsored Saturday night’s awards. Dermot Gillespie was a popular winner of the Bonagee United Club Person of the Year award.
The club chairman added: “Dermot involves himself in everything that is happening in the club. Growing up supporting his local club, one of his jobs now is kit man for the USL team and his red Golf can be seen at any hour of the day outside the office where he is in washing and folding rigs.”
