Two Donegal locations have been short-listed in the Top 20 Places to Holiday In Ireland this year.
The competition is held between the Irish Times and Failte Ireland.
The two places in Donegal selected by readers are the Inishowen Peninsula and Bundoran.
The overall winner will be announced n the August Bank Holiday Weekend in the Irish Times magazine.
As well as Inishowen and Bundoran, other holiday hotspots to hit the Top 20 include Achill in Mayo, Inishboffin in Galway, Kilkenny City, Westport in Mayo, Carlingford in Louth, The Burren in Co Clare and Valentia Island in Kerry.
The Irish Times team says that despite being somewhat run-down after the pandemic, it’s hard to beat the seaside town for affordability and its wonderful hinterland.
Of Inishowen, the paper says that if planned properly a holiday there will offer variety and value for money compared with established tourism bases around Ireland.
