Following on from his record breaking performance on Tuesday, John Kelly has been added to the Irish squad for the 2022 World Athletics Championships next week.
The Finn Valley man threw out to 20.16m in the Shot Put at the World Athletics Continental Tour bronze meet, breaking the 20.07m record set by Eric Favors in May of this year.
The St Johnston man will be taking part in the shot put event as part of the championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Due to injuries from the World Championships list, Kelly was given a late invite to the competition.
Kelly will be one of three Donegal men representing Ireland, all of whom compete for Finn Valley AC.
Mark English is set to compete in the 800m, while Brendan Boyce is entered in the 35km race walk.
Favors of Raheny Shamrocks has also been added to the entrants list for the 2022 World Championships
