Four Donegal beaches made the top ten list of Ireland’s best beaches, according to Google Maps.
Silver Strand in Glencolmcille, Kinnagoe Bay, Ballymastocker and Dooey all made the cut, coming in at 3rd, 4th, 5th and 10th respectively, proving that Donegal is the best county for beach-lovers.
The list was compiled by the Irish Mirror, by looking at beaches that had more than 50 reviews on Google Maps, ranking them by overall rating and percentage of five-star reviews.
Keem Beach on Achill Island, Co. Mayo made it to the top of the list, after more than 1,500 reviewers gave it 5 stars out of 5.
Ireland’s famous coastline is known to attract visitors from around the globe and were awarded 95 Blue Flags this year for maintaining green, clean and safe beaches.
The list of Ireland’s top 10 beaches is as follows:
- Keem Beach, Achill, Co. Mayo – 1,504 five-star reviews
- Coumeenoole Beach, Co. Kerry – 1,352 five-star reviews
- Silver Strand, Glencolumkille, Co. Donegal – 750 five-star reviews
- Kinnagoe Bay, Co. Donegal – 398 five-star reviews
- Ballymastocker Beach, Co. Donegal – 287 five-star reviews
- Silver Strand, Co. Mayo – 241 five-star reviews
- Carrowmore Beach, Co. Mayo – 151 five-star reviews
- Ballydowane Beach, Co. Waterford – 143 five-star reviews
- Fermoyle Strande, Co. Kerry – 123 five-star reviews
